Forget about beauty
I’ve often repeated that GB was the best art teacher I could image for 16-18 year olds. He really started to open me up.....
After I’d defended my drawing of a thatched, timber-framed cottage using the word ‘Beauty’, GB made it perfectly clear to me that only old ladies in deckchairs think artists are interested in aesthetics, “Forget about beauty, paint about things that you find exciting.” A good educator was George Bland. Thank you.
